Result
55%
of residential complexes adopted the new tariff in just 2 months
22%
increase in average target call cost
Role & Process
I worked as part of a discovery team. My responsibilities included conducting competitive research, prototyping, and validating hypotheses through user interviews. I collaborated closely with stakeholders to balance business monetization goals with user experience.
The Problem
Sellers (real estate developers) lacked effective ways to stand out in a crowded market and demonstrate the unique value of their properties. At the same time, buyers needed more high-quality visual information and technical details to make high-stakes purchasing decisions.
Discovery
We started with a competitive analysis of platforms like Cian, Yandex Realty, and Domclick, as well as direct developer websites. This helped us understand how the market promotes premium real estate.
After brainstorming with the discovery team, we identified the most impactful yet feasible features. I then built a prototype and conducted interviews with both sellers and buyers to test their reactions to the new visual elements and the auction-based promotion logic.
Auction Mechanic & Visibility
To prioritize listings in search results, we implemented an auction mechanic: higher bids result in higher placement. To support this, I designed visual highlights for search snippets and added extra info-blocks on the complex and apartment pages to justify the premium placement.
Dynamic Visuals
I introduced an auto-playing video cover for residential complex pages — ideal for drone footage. Previously, only static photos were available. This creates an immediate «wow» effect and increases time-on-page.
Rich Content Modules
I added a dedicated «About the Complex» video section for long-form reviews, covering architecture and amenities. I also designed a «Features» block highlighting unique selling points (e.g., smart home, designer lobbies). Each feature opens a detailed popup with descriptions and high-res photos.
Design System
The project was built using Avito’s internal design system. I contributed by creating new, reusable patterns for video players and interactive feature-cards that stayed consistent with the platform’s overall language.
Outcome
55% of residential complexes in Moscow and St. Petersburg migrated to the new tariff within only two months of launch. This rapid adoption led to a 22% increase in the average cost of a target call (CPA model), significantly boosting the company's revenue from additional services.
Scope of Work
Search result snippet enhancements
Interactive Residential Complex landing page
Video-integration modules and popups
Auction management interface components
Next Steps
The next phase involves scaling these premium features to secondary market agencies and automating the content moderation process for high-resolution video uploads.
Challenge
The main challenge was balancing monetization with UX. We had to ensure that «paid» visibility didn't degrade the search experience for buyers, but rather provided them with more useful, high-quality content that justified the higher CPA for developers.
